Susan Faucon, 46, sat in her Dover Township studio on a recent Friday studying a legal pad that contained a client's interview. Early afternoon sun filtered into the room, which was filled with her spiritual keepsakes, including black-and-white photos of her mother and an antique chest-turned-altar. After collecting her thoughts for a few moments, she knelt on the floor with a rhythm drum in her hands, waiting for inspiration. With her eyes closed, she asked the "creator spirit" to help her find the rhythm, the heartbeat of the earth.A few seconds later, she began to play the drum and sing words from the interview to the beat. In about five minutes, Faucon recorded the basic structure to a song that would become a personal healing mantra for her client. The mantras - simple songs with repetitive drums and words - are part of a healing and transformation process. When a client contacts Faucon, she conducts an interview, which helps the person name his or her greatest fear and define his or her "grandest vision of who they choose to be." Faucon uses the responses to write an individualized song - or mantra - designed to help the participant reach his or her grandest vision. Source: York Daily Record (read full story) |
